Ok, first, we have been investigating and getting the information on new companies, so the lack of updates is due to this. But we have a couple I'm going to post on the upcoming days.

You have probably called you phone company at least once to report a problem with the line or to add a feature like voicemail. If you thought they took so long was because the had monkeys working there, then our next entry will put those thoughts to rest.

SupraTelecom

Supra is one of the biggest telephone companies in Florida. They lease lines from Bellsouth and resell them, offering telephone service at cheaper prices. Customer Service is the entry position at Supra. Here you deal with customers calling to report problems, add/delete a feature, review their bill, take installation orders, etc. From here you can move to the internet dept, provisioning, billing, debt collections, marketing and others. Since the company is in Florida, you'll deal mostly with haitians, cubans and north americans.

The company pays pretty good. You'll likely start on the afternoon shift, so it may not be the best choice for someone who studies in the afternoon. There's usually no OT. They pay the training, which is 2 weeks long.

Is Patience your thing? then Language Line is for you!

The title is no joke. You'll really need patience for our 2nd entry. Language Line Services, LLS, is an interpreter company. You work as the middleman in 3 way conference call between an english client and a non-english speaking customer. You interpret the messages that each party wants to communicate. The calls can get annoying, because the spanish speaking person will need things repeated to them various times. A lot of times, they don't even have a clue why they're calling. No kidding.

Verizon International Services (formerly INFOTEL)

One of the first company working with bilingual operators. VIS has different departments for english operators including positions for bilingual phonebooth operators, debt collectors and one where you teach clients how to operate their credit card machines. A good thing about them is that they're always looking for people, but their salary is not the greatest. They have 2 locations in Santo Domingo (27 de Febrero and Hainamosa) and one in Santiago, I think. You can deposit your resume at:

Hello and Welcome to Workforce, DR.
